Ontario regulator's policy defines CANRA-QE as a Council-approved assessment comprising an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) plus two written multiple-choice exams assessing clinical sciences and biomedical knowledge.

BoardQBank Part II →Objective Structured Clinical Examination. This policy confirms the component but does not itself specify the number or length of stations.
BoardQBank OSCE →Under this Ontario policy, a candidate must have either:
Eligibility is determined by the regulator. Do not assume a previous licence or examination alone provides an automatic exemption.
The policy requires at least:
in acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine. Candidates should confirm acceptable documentation with the Ontario regulator.
Policy EX10.00 permits non-PLAR candidates to take the CANRA-QE components in any order. You are not required by this policy to finish Written Part I before Part II or the OSCE.
The sequence is governed by the separate PLAR Program Policy. Do not presume the same flexibility applies if your examination eligibility is through PLAR.
Each CANRA-QE component is subject to the policy's three-attempt framework. Do not treat practice mock exams as official attempts.
Confirm your regulatory recordBefore a third and final attempt, the Registration Committee may require additional education or training.
Committee decisionBefore any additional attempts, the candidate must satisfy section 5(5) of the Registration Regulation.
Not an automatic fourth attemptCANRA-QE passing results are valid for two years under the College's examinations policy, as referenced in EX10.00.
The document assigns responsibility for passing requirements to CANRA's General Examinations Administration Policy. It does not state a percentage, number of correct answers, minimum OSCE station count, or pass mark.
Ontario regulator's public transition page confirms that its Clinical (Practical), Clinical Sciences and Biomedical examinations are replaced by CANRA-QE for entry to practice effective April 1, 2027.
Ontario regulator's separate transition guidance describes recognition of valid prior passing results, corresponding outstanding examination components, labour mobility exceptions and remediation of previous unsuccessful attempts. Individual determinations remain with the Ontario regulator.
EX10.00 was approved on September 30, 2026. Its page 2–3 “Entry-to-Practice Requirement” text mentions April 1, 2026, whereas its definitions refer to the change after April 1, 2027 and Ontario regulator's public transition page explicitly confirms April 1, 2027.
We present the confirmed public date, flag the inconsistency and recommend checking with the Ontario regulator rather than interpreting the earlier date as a retroactive change.
Requests are processed by the College under its Examination Accommodations Policy. The policy defines adjustments for disability, religious requirements, pregnancy and breastfeeding-related needs.
Cancellation/refund requests follow CANRA's General Examination Administration Policy; appeals follow its Appeal Policy; examination violations are governed by CANRA's Examination Conduct Policy.
This guide summarizes the September 30, 2026 policy PDF supplied to BoardQBank. It is a student explanation rather than an official publication or a replacement for the original policy.
